OCTOBER 28-30, 2021, CHRISTIANSHAVN BEBOERHUS, COPENHAGEN
It is said… that in the very process of dying, the highest realization and insight and thus the greatest possibility of liberation arises. Soon after, the illusions that eventually lead to reincarnation begin. The light of cognition is becoming fainter and more diverse, and the visions more and more frightening. This downward curve illustrates the separation of consciousness from the truth that can liberate it as it gets closer and closer to the physical rebirth.
The framework for the performance installation is based on the ancient text Bardo Thodol, also known as The Tibetan Book of the Dead. THE VOID is an organism of senses, dissecting the different stages of consciousness in the Bardo existence. The visitor is taken on a journey through the spiritual and existentialist stages of life between death and rebirth. They will enter the void to experience the light of awareness and the downwards curve as it turns fainter and more diverse, the visions more and more frightening, as it separates the consciousness from the truth, gradually getting closer and closer to the physical birth. As a visitor you will be given the chance to regain the divinity of the soul that you lost at birth.
